What a link page knows about your visitors
A link page sees a lot of people. Every visit reveals an IP address, a device, a referrer, sometimes an approximate location. Multiply that by the millions of pages on a large platform and you have a dataset with real market value.
The invisible trackers
Tracking does not only happen through declared ad networks. Loading a font from a third-party server hands that third party the IP address of every visitor. Showing a YouTube thumbnail from Google's servers does the same. These are technical details, but they add up.
