Organising a page with a lot of links
A link page works well up to seven or eight entries. Beyond that it becomes a list, and lists are not read: they are skimmed, and the links at the bottom never get clicked.
Group by category
You can insert category headings between your links: "Social", "My projects", "Shop". Each heading groups the links that follow it. It is the simplest way to turn a list into a structured page.
Fold away what is not a priority
A category can be collapsible. A chevron and a counter show it holds links, and the visitor opens it if interested. Useful for an archive — past projects, press appearances — without crowding the top of the page.
One caution though: groups open by default, deliberately. A link hidden behind an extra tap gets far fewer clicks. Only fold what is genuinely secondary.
Choose the block order
Beyond links, your page may hold a business card, an email block, articles, an event. The order changes with arrows, and only the blocks you actually use appear in the list.
Give weight to what matters
Two tools for that. An image preview turns a link into a poster: a full-width thumbnail above the title, which draws the eye far more than a line of text. And per-link customisation lets you give the one that matters a different colour, shadow or border from the rest.
One simple rule
If you hesitate about removing a link, it probably should go. A page of ten well-chosen links earns more clicks than a page of thirty.
Frequently asked questions
How many links can I add?
There is no technical limit. The limit is your visitors' attention.
Do categories count as links?
No, they are headings. They move like links, with the same arrows.
Do previews work with any site?
They work with YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify, SoundCloud and Dailymotion, whose image can be derived from the address.
