Creating a link page for free: the starter guide

This guide assumes you have never made a link page before. Allow a quarter of an hour for something presentable, half an hour if you want to polish it.

1. Choose your handle

Your page will live at an address containing this handle. Use the same one as on your social accounts if you can: people remember it better, and it is what they will type. Avoid hyphens and digits, which are hard to say out loud.

2. The picture and the name

A sharp photo where you are recognisable, or your logo. The display name can differ from the handle: use the one people know you by, not your legal name if you publish under another.

The description line deserves thirty seconds of thought. It answers "who is this, what do they do", not "what are my values".

3. The links, in the right order

Put first what you want clicked, not what feels most official. If your goal is for people to hear your track, it goes above your Instagram.

Five to eight links is plenty to start. You will add more once you see what works.

4. Style, without losing the afternoon

Start with a ready-made look in the studio, then adjust two or three things: the heading font, the background colour, the shape of the links. Perfection can wait; a page that is live beats a perfect one that is not.

5. The email block

Switch it on from the start, even if you plan to send nothing yet. Addresses accumulate while you think, and cost nothing to store. It is free and uncapped.

6. Publish and check

Open your page on your phone, in a private window, as a visitor would. Check every link lands where it should — the most common mistake is a link copied from the wrong tab.

Then put the address in your bios. That is all: nothing to pay, no subscription to watch, and your data is not resold.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a card to sign up?

No. Sign-up asks for an email address and a password.

Can I change my handle later?

The handle sets your page address; changing it changes the address.

How long until Google finds me?

Allow a few weeks. Ranking depends mostly on the links pointing to your page.
